Few books have made a time and place feel as alive to me as this one. Hemingway’s recollections of Paris are made even more remarkable by the number of extraordinary writers and artists whose lives were intertwined there, each deeply committed to their own work and determined to make something lasting. I especially loved the sense that everyone was still becoming who they would eventually be.
