I had never read the source material for Game of Thrones, but was a fan of the television show. With HBO now producing the prequel story about the history of the Targaryen empire, I decided to give the book a chance. The success of the author is clearly warranted, not that my judgement is needed, but I found his writing style, attention to detail, and overall approach to be excellent - I now need to decide whether or not I should pick up the rest of the series that sparked the massive television hit!
