The success of Ready Player One made a sequel understandable, but the original story had already been told. Reusing the same characters in a far less exciting plot made this feel tired and forced, more like an attempt to recreate the appeal of the first book than a story that needed to exist on its own. Unfortunately, very little about it felt memorable.
